  1. Dear Author,

Thanks for presenting these nice visuals of a very important data set. These graphs indeed provide very insightful information of district-wise distribution of internet usage in Bangladesh.

However, we are stumbling on a number of questions upon studying these graphs. If you could take the pain to explain the following, that would help us a lot:

    a) It is not clear to us how person-wise data was collected. We understand that this question may fall beyond your reach, as the original data collection was done by BBS, we were wondering if you could find any information about the methodologies used for collecting data in that source? Also, if available online, a pointer to the data source would help us a lot.

    b) In the pi-charts, the percentages are often not summing up to 100%. I presume the percentages are taken from the total usage. Could you please explain that a bit. We are sorry, but we are imposing our naive knowledge around reading pi-charts here.

    c) We are struggling to understand some categories including: “Totthyo Prokash”, “Jinispotro ba Sheba somporke dharona newa”, ‘Jinispotro ba Sheba newa”, etc.

    d) When was the data collected? Some friends of mine and I find it confusing that software download takes up the maximum usage beating social media. Even if this is the fact, this might be a little concern that we are downloading more software than we are using those.

    e) Is there any broad level take-away from this usage pattern?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Dear Ishtiaque Ahmed,

Thank you very much for paying attention to our little effort. Right now we are kind of busy with preparation of an upcoming workshop on journalism & internet which is scheduled to take place in Comilla on Jan 30th.

Please allow us a few days, we will try to come up with some explanation on your observations.

      Thanks again,

  2. Dear Ishtiaq,
Thank you very much for your very insightful comments and questions. However, its not clear to me why are you seeking the answer of these questions. I am on the way of submitting a paper on this topic, before submitting you know its not possible for me to uncover any of your question’s answer. I hope you understand, if not please take your time to search more on internet.
